Magic Tree House: Afternoon on the Amazon

This book is about Jack and Annie’s run into the Magic Tree house and they have an adventure of the Amazon river. The problem in the story is that Jack and Annie learned that a magic librarian as under a spell , she need there help. They have to go to amazon to help the librarian. On the way they learn some interesting things they learned about Amazon like the rain forest is in “three layers” and the thick treetops often over 150 feet in the air make up the top layer (13-14). Also the top layer of this is called “the forest canopy (14).” They find a mango that will help the magic librarian.

I didn’t like this book because the author is always talking about Jack and Annie’s mouse and describing them. “ Based on what I Read in the story It said Jack closed the book and looked at the cover , It showed a picture of a green forest. The book had too much information about magic and I thought it was silly. I would recommend a child who likes magic and the Amazon read this book. I think you should save your time and find another book to read.

Along for the Ride

The book I’m read is along for the ride and the author is Sarah dessen. This book is the same thing as my first book we’ll always have Summer. This book almost compared is romance, love and sometimes drama. Along for the ride is a good book is talk about the girl Auden life and some romance in the story. The theme was never let someone bully you.

This book about Auden life. Auden have a stepmom and step brother they live together in a house. Auden and her step brother go to the same school together. Auden see her old friends in school they hang out a lot in school. Maggie has feelings for Auden step brother because she didn’t know that Auden and her step brother living together. Maggie blame Auden that she hang out with her love but the other girls said it wasn’t Auden who did it she was trying to escape his hold. Auden and her step brother is the main character in the story and tells what happened in the story about their life.

I like this book because it talk about romance and about their life in the story. I hope the reader should read this book because this book is like a true story and talks about how you should treat friends or others. This book is wonderful I hope the reader or audience should read this book.

The Living

The living in my opinion was a very good book about survival, And about not taking things for granted because it could all dissapear in the blink of an eye. And I also liked it because it's not to “fake” I like books about stuff that could/did actually happen, and this is one of those books. This book is a very good book because, it not to “fake”.

The book starts off with the man that shy described as fat and bald, committing suicide by jumping off the side of the boat on shy’s first voyage.  Then on his second voyage is when everything goes wrong. First he finds out about someone an FBI agent that has been following him around the boat. Then he ended up kissing carmen ( she’s engaged to someone else), and she would not talk to him.then he found out that his nephew contracted Ramiro disease, which Is the same disease that killed his grandma. And when carmen found out she started talking to him again. and then the storm hit. And the boat got capsized by two huge tsunamis. And after all the chaos shy finds himself alone on a life boat with a large hole in it. And I won't spoil the whole book. But he ends up making back to land.

So in conclusion, all around this was a very good book. It has very good detail about the things that happen in the book. It has very good dialogue, it is a very good story about survival. And I would recommend this book to anybody that like books about survival. So I believe this is good book for anybody to read.

The Hunger Games

The book that I read is called ‘The Hunger Games’ being one one the most popular books ever written. It’s unique way of writing was very intriguing to my view, being a very unique story on the protagonist's point of view. This book was written by Suzanne Collins. She has written a few Hunger Games books including, Catching Fire, as well as Mocking Jay.

They story is basically about Katniss Everdeen, also being the protagonist in this book. She lives in District 12 being one of the many districts that are divided. Theirs and event happening every year called The Hunger Games which would pick a male and female from every district to take place in these Hunger Games events. Rules are simple, in order to live you must survive in order to survive you must be the last one standing in order to be the last one standing, you must kill.

Katniss Everdeen is a hunter that leaves her district into the forest so she can hunt in order to feed her family. Things around districts are in struggle, so is up to her to feed her family. The Hunger Games are coming up and when day comes she chooses a heroic act to save someone she loves deeply.

This book was really inspiring in the sense that you have to be strong in order to survive in this world and I love that I can relate to that. If you are looking for a book to entertain you, have action, and show you a lesson in life this would be a perfect fit for you.

Cover-Up

I really suggested you reading this book.My book is called cover up by John Feinstein. This book is mystery and it’s mostly about football and reporters. This book is interesting because I like the way it’s mystery and you read as you find out.

My book is about two reporter make a big stories and the super bowl. The reporter get a chance to host a Super Bowl event and only one gets to go. This is the very first time there team made it to the super bowl. The score was 19-19 and there was enough time to get extra point and they take the win. There town takes a win for the super bowl.

I like this book it make a good story to it. I like it because it’s make you want to read the book more and more like movie there is a very good hook to it. The book was written for people that likes to read a book every time on there free time. I wouldn’t say people won’t like it because they want to see the action more than want and find out at the end. I want people to read it though so they can get into books like this and want to read more mystery.

One Thing Stolen

My book is One thing stolen by Beth Kephart . She also has written and published over ten other books . This fiction book is about a girl Nadia who recently moved to Italy and she likes to steal things .

This book is mainly about a girl Nadia who recently moved to Florence italy and likes to steals things . She’s with her father, mother and her brother in Italy . They moved to Italy for her father's research on a big flood that almost destroyed Florence . For a while Nadia’s ability to speak has been going away . She likes to steal everything she basically see’s but she only steals the things she thinks that is pretty and she makes nests out of the things she steals . She meets an italian guy and she feels like he understands her, but she’s the only one who has seen him . She has secrets she can’t tell .

In my opinion I think this book was good . I liked this book because it was interesting and good and there is a lot of things that happen . I think you guys should read this book because it’s very intense and good. If you want to know more about it I suggest you read it .

Gone

The book “Gone” is made by Lisa McMann.  It is the third book in her “Wake” trilogy. She has written many other books too, like the “Unwanted series”.  The first two books “Wake” and “Fade” (novels) are about a 17 year old girl who has the power to go into people’s dreams.  Well, she gets sucked into them.  If a person falls asleep a certain distance away, Janie automatically gets paralyzed and blinded and gets sucked into the person's dream. The distance increases if a person is having a nightmare.

This book is continuing with Janie’s troubles as well.  But in this book there is a little twist.  A person, a person Janie has never seen or heard of before, flips her life upside down.  Janie tries to help the person but she doesn’t know how to.  She is already very responsible of her alcoholic mom, now she needs to have to be responsible for this other person.  And with her powers, she’ll be going blind.  So now she doesn’t know what to do with her boyfriend.

I like this book because it is like a mystery.  I got this book because of what the back of the book said. It said “ He reaches toward her, his fingers black and bloody, his eyes deranged, unblinking.  Janie is paralyzed.  His cold hands reach around her neck, squeezing tight, tighter, until Janie has no breath left.  She’s unable to move, u able to think.  As his grasp tightens further around Janie’s neck, his face turns sickly alabaster.  He strains harder and begins to shake.
 Janie is dying.
She has no fight left in her.
 It’s over.”

This gave me chills and I wanted to read it to see what it’s about.

Sword Art Online 5: Phantom Bullet

The book is called Sword Art Online 5: Phantom Bullet by Reki Kawahara. Reki Kawahara has created many other books and series such as Accel World and The Isolator. Compared to other novels, this one is the 5th volume of the Sword Art Online franchise. Kirigaya Kazuto (a.k.a “Kirito”) the champion of the unbeatable game SAO(Sword Art Online) and who came back from ALO(Alfheim Online) who is relaxing and having a good life with his girlfriend Asuna Yuuki now has to go once again into the Virtual Reality game known as GGO(Gun Gale Online) to solve the mystery and rumor of a murderer in the game in this romance science fiction novel.

Kirigaya Kazuto who is also known as his in game character name “Kirito” has faced against death and god and won twice, but can he do it a third time? In the new VR game known as GGO(Gun Gale Online) there has been rumors about a player who goes around with a “death gun” and whoever he shoots dies not only in-game but in real life. Will he be up for the challenge to solve the case? Kirito, the champion of the SAO outbreak that happened years ago has now come back to investigate a case of murders inside GGO with the help of Kikuoka Seijirou, who works for the Ministry of Internal Affair’s Telecommunications Bureau, which he was the one who suggested and asked Kirito to investigate in the first place. Asuna Yuuki, Kirito’s girlfriend and named “The Flash” for her outstanding rapier skills during the SAO outbreak. She and Kirito were married in the game and were the best team anyone has ever seen or known after beating SAO her Nerve Gear transferred into ALO and she was kept captive in a cage with no one to rescue that is until Kirito hears about it and saves her by also defying god in the game. He then meets Asada Sinon, an expert sniper and a kind girl, she’s one of the top few players on GGO. She has a phobia of guns for the reason when she was a kid she shot a robber to death with his own gun, she plays GGO to relieve herself. Death gun, the man who could kill anyone in real life by shooting his gun at their in-game body, was one of the survivors of the SAO outbreak. During SAO he was in a guild called the Laughing Coffin which was a player killing guild.

I really recommend this book to anyone who likes good drama and mystery. Anyone of young age or older age, it’ll really give your mind no chance to stop with all the thoughts going through your head when you read this. The character development is great and each character has a unique backstory and a fear to conquer. I would recommend saving this for later only to read the volumes in order in able to get the full understanding of each character due to their past which will tell more and will definitely make you wanting more.

Wonder

This new book was written by R.J.P and it’s called Wonder she has written a lot of different kind of book similar to Wonder. The story is told from Auggie perspective as well from his family and friends.

This book wonder is about this ten year-old boy named August (Auggie) Pullman. He was born with a facial deformity that prevented him from going to a real school. He was homeschooled by his mom. He about to be in fifth grade and about to start going to a new school called Beecher Prep. Auggie know he’s an ordinary kid but other kids doesn’t see him like an ordinary kid. Auggie live with his mom his older sister via and his dog Daisy. Auggie and his mom went to check out the school before attending and he meet some kids who’s going to be in the same class as him, two is nice and one is rude to him. Some kids don’t want to sit with him but his new friend jack sit with him doing class and one girl summer she sit with him at lunch.

I really love this book wonder, it's an amazing book, it taught me a great and important lesson. Most importantly accepting people for who they are, instead of how they look. This book was written for all reader and those who see other by how they look like. I recommend readers to read this book because it’s very interesting and sends a good message. I thinks readers going to love this book because it’s a very relaxing book with strong words.

Michael Vey: The Prisoner of Cell 25

During this trimester I've read “Michael Vey The Prisoner Of Cell 25” by Richard Paul Evans. Richard Paul Evans is the series writer of  “Michael Vey”. Currently Richard has written 7 books in the series. I've only read the first book in the series. I don't know if his other books are good but I've heard good reviews about it. “Michael Vey The Prisoner Of Cell 25” is a Sci-fi story teaching people about the importance of teamwork.

The setting for “Michael Vey The Prisoner Of Cell 25” begins in Idaho Meridian High and gradually moves on to the Elgen Academy in Pasadena, California.  Michael is born a glow along with 16 other individuals(a glow is the name used for infants that survived a science experiment that gave them super power). Taylor is also a born a glow. Both Michael and Taylor received scholarship from The Elgen Academy in Pasadena, California. During Michael’s birthday he,Ostin and his mom went to Pizzamax. When Michael mentioned to his mom about the  scholarship from Elgen.Michael’s mom expresses change from joyful to fearful“‘We need to go’...’we need to get Ostin and leave now’”(Evans 108). Hatch(the main antagonist) kidnaps Michael’s mom. Hatch was also going to kidnap Michael using Nichelle but Hatch fails(Nichelle is also a glow. Instead of having powers, she sucks the power out of other glows). Taylor get out of cheerleaders practice and get kidnapped outside of the school. Michael is going to Elgens academy to find Taylor and his mom.

I very much liked the book. This book is very relatable. Also this book is joyful every page you turn. This book is mostly targeted towards teens. I think most reader will like this book because of its existing and unsuspecting events. Who doesn’t want to read an EXCITING, THRILLING,and ENJOYABLE book. “Michael Vey The Prisoner Of Cell 25” is the book for you!

Blank Confessions

The author of this book is Pete Hautman. He has written similar books, such as Mr. Was, Godless, Sweetblood, Rush, and Invisible. There are several other books by him, those were just the most recent. A comparison of this book and others he’s published would be that the main characters are teenage boys that are around the same age. Shayne Blank is a boy that confesses to something that nobody believes could’ve been committed by such an innocent kid, or so they thought.

Some of the main characters in this story are Shayne, Maria, Mikey, and Jon. Mikey, a friend of Shayne’s, is facing a huge conflict through out this story because he is in debt, and until he pays up, everyday he is facing the fear of getting beat up. “I'm here, aren't I ? No missing limbs, no ugly bruises, not deceased. Of course I paid him.” So by now he has learned that if he pays, there won't be much pain, but if he doesn't, there will be major aggressive problems. Shayne on the other hand gives an unbelievable confession that will have you on the edge of your seat.

I found this book really interesting because it was all about mysteries, drama, and action. So if these are things that you enjoy reading about, then I strongly recommend that you read this book ASAP. This book is mostly targeted for teenagers, or young adults, because the main characters that take place in the story are also teenagers. This is a phenomenal book, and I really hope that you enjoy it just as well as I did.

Brothers in Arms

The book I read is called Brother in Arms. The author’s that wrote the book, their names are Paul Langan and Ben Alirez. Some of the books they’ve written are called Breaking Point, Blood is thicker, and a bunch more books. All the books they have written is a series. The series title is Bluford High. It’s similar to their other books. The books are based on stuff that happens in real life. Family problems, drama, etc. The genre of this book is Fiction. The book is mainly about this guy named Martin Luna, who is still dealing with his brother’s death.

Martin hasn’t been the same since his brother died. He started heading in the wrong direction. And him and his mother moved. Martin doesn’t like his new school. That made it worse. But eventually things change. “It was like I was dead inside, like my heart had turned gray and rotten once Huero paased away.”

I loved the book because It was filled with drama. It was really interesting. I feel like the book was made for teens that like books filled with drama. I think Brothers in Arms is a really good book. Really interesting and lots of drama. Something is always happening in the book. You’ll stay interested.

The Perfectionists

The book I was reading is called “The Perfectionists” by Sara Shepard, it is a drama and the theme was a murder at a party. Sara Shepard has written many other books like the series ”The Lying Game,” “Pretty Little Liars,”(is also a show she wrote) and “The Heiresses.” This book was a very good book it was very interesting and mysterious. I think that if anyone else would have read it they would love it. This book has a good amount of pages and many different settings.

The story is about how this group of girls go to a party and something mysterious happens at the party, So the girl outside people start becoming distant and closer. But the police thinks that the girls may have had something to do with it ; and they also have to deal with stuff from outside of that problem. A part that hit me was when they said the teacher Mr.Granger died after the girls went to the police station. Also when Mr.Granger tried to have sexual contact with Ava one of his students. He told Ava to come over so he can help her with her test and then he said to her “There is a scene where a couple wades into the Trevi Fountain in Rome. Its so romantic. I can see us doing the same thing.” “Really,” she said. And then he kissed her on the lips.

I really liked this story because it had a lot of drama and it had many plot twist. To me this book was meant to be written for anyone over the age of 13 because it talks about real things that actually happen and that’s something that’s good to know. Maybe everyone who reads this book will like it but many people have different opinions so it depends. But overall anyone should really read this book especially if u like that drama or romance type of genre and even if u don’t u should still try to read it because it will blow your mind and/or change your opinion.

One Hundred Years of Solitude

One Hundered Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Márquez

The book's genre is magical realism, meaning that it incorporates magic into a realistic view of the real world. The story is in history fragments told by many different views and backgrounds. Themes of the strong ties between family often show up in this book.

Essentially what the story is about is a little town called Macondo, founded by our starting two lead characters José Arcadio Buendiá and Úrsula Iguarán, a married couple with 3 children. The story is experienced through the eyes of these two and their family as time goes on, it's essentially the history of Macondo seen through the eyes of the Buendiás. Many characters come in throughout the story, the gypsy man Melquiades who would inspire the curious mind of José. The three children of the couple grow as the story goes on, eventually spawning their own stories and families. New children would be adopted into the family of the Buendiás. Themes of civil discourse between two factions would shape the future of the town. The town will build, the town will fall, people will die and people will come back, we get to see it all through the eyes of the Buendiá family.

I enjoyed the book mostly because of all the strange yet appropriate stuff that happens in it, it’s actually quite funny at times. I guess the target audience for this book would be anyone who just enjoys reading realistic books with a bit of magic and weird thrown in. Honestly it’s coin flip on whether or not this book would be right for you, in half it's fairly calm and interesting in how things turn out, in the other half you have ghosts plugging up their throats with grass and strong cases of “You stop that”, of which refers to several uncomfortable circumstances. Read it if you’ve got the time and can handle a little weird.

The Bunker Diary

The bunker diary by Kevin brooks, I actually haven’t read any other book by him. This book was actually really good, the genre is adventure and the theme is you can’t trust everyone in this world. Here are some other books by this author, being, candy, five hundred miles, Lucas, the road of the dead, etc .

This story was about a 17 year old named Linus who had problems at home with his father and ran off to London, there, he help a “blind man” out but took a wrong turn.  Another conflict in this book was that they were going to starve to death. Also, they couldn’t get out from where they were. A textual evidence that I thought was intriguing was “Fred dies, goes into the bathroom and drinks the bleach.”

I really liked this book and would like to read another of Kevin Brooks books. I’m sure if readers are patient and love to read, they would like this book a lot and suggest it to someone else. This book was actually an explosive winner back in 2014. I suggest you read it immediately, has to be one of the best books I’ve read yet.

Eight Men Out

The author of 8 Men Out is Eliot Asinof. Other books by this author are Man on Spikes. They both relate to baseball. The genre of this book is historical and sports non fiction.

The book is about the 1919 World Series between the Chicago White Sox and the Cincinnati Reds. The White Sox were the heavy favorites to win the World Series just because of how stacked they were against the Reds that year. However for the White Sox 8 players were paid by gamblers to throw the World Series. The eight men included in the scandal are; Chuck Gandil, Buck Weaver, Claude Williams,Eddie Cicotte, Oscar Felsch, Swede Risberg, Fred Mullin, and Joe “shoeless” Jackson.

I liked the book a lot because it is about baseball and it's something all baseball fans should know about because of how big of a scandal it was. If you like baseball this is definitely the book you should, or if you like sports in general.

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer

The book that I was reading is The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin. The book is in a trilogy, The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer, The Evolution of Mara Dyer, and The Retribution of Mara Dyer. It is a fast pace physiological and paranormal novel. The general theme of this book is don’t judge someone on how they act, but it is a more mix of themes. Mara wants to be a normal teenager, but she think she’s going crazy.

Mara Dyer was in a coma after a building had collapsed on her. Her and her friends were in an abandoned asylum, she only survived. When she woke up and was allowed to go back home her and her family moved to get away, to Florida specifically. Mara went to a new school made a friend Jamie, and a slight romantic interest, Noah. She started seeing things though, mainly her dead friends. “ I wasn’t going to admit that I thought I saw my classroom fall apart the second I walked in it. Or that my dead friends reappeared today, courtesy of my PTSD” (Hodkin 45).

I loved the book because it’s physiological and thrilling and at some parts it’s confusing and I love that sense of is this part real or not. The author really wanted you to feel the sense of what is happening and what is real. She portrayed that very well. The target audience of this is probably teens and young adults. People should read this book if you’re into thrillers, I can never find a book I like but this book is amazing. I suggest that people read this book and the other books in this trilogy.

To All the Boys I've Loved Before

The book To All the Boys I've Loved before by Jenny Han is the first in the trilogy, followed by P.S. I Still Love You, and Always and Forever , Lara Jean.  I loved this book so much because, it was very realistic, beautifully written, the best romantic novel ever written and I love how one thing flowed into another so perfectly but also how well it reflected the conflicts of young adults today.

One of the main characters, Lara Jean writes a letter to every boy that she has ever loved and she puts them into envelopes and stamps them and doesn't send them, but instead keeps them in a box that her deceased mother had given her. Out of the blue they get sent, and coincidentally one of the boys she loved is her older sister Margot's ex-boyfriend, Josh. The whole family loved Josh, especially Kitty, the youngest sister of the three who herself might've had a crush on him. Lara Jean still has a small crush on him, but that would be wrong because Josh belongs to Margot even though they're broken up. One of the boys she use to loves name is Peter K, so to make things between her and Josh not awkward she says Peter K is her boyfriend. Peter goes along with it because he wants to make his ex-girlfriend Gen jealous. Peter and Lara Jean start hanging out in public to make themselves look like an actual couple. Josh doesn't like that. Peter and Josh almost get into a fight over Lara Jean and Kitty confesses to something that lead to Margot and Lara Jean getting into a fight for the very first time.

I loved this book because of how real it felt. It wasn't anything like a cliché movie like how some of the other romantic novels are written, besides the fact about how the letters get sent out this isn't a cliché at all. But besides that everything that happened in the book could happen in real life and that's what I loved the most, it's realness. I would recommend this book to anyone, because I normally don't read this genre of books, but I loved it anyway. I mainly read adventurous books however I loved this realistic romantic nonetheless. Everyone should try reading this book because it's worth the time and effort, again I don't typically read this genre of book but it was amazing and I'm glad I read it, you should read it too!
