The Maltese Falcon

Author: Dashiell Hammett

Red harvest
The thin man
Nightmare town

These are some of his books you might've heard or read about. All his books are in the mystery genre. Detective Sam spade gets more than he expects, when he takes on a chase. A beautiful young woman named Ruth wonderly gives him and his partner a case where they trying to find her sister who ran off with Floyd Thursby. But troubles comes, when his partner and Floyd Thursby  is murdered, and Sam is accused of being the killer. The theme I would say is violence because it contends about dominance and power. Many of the characters use violence in an attempt to find out the truth.

Ruth Wonderly wants to select Mr. Spade and his partner Mr. Archer services of being private detectives to find her sister who apparently ran off with a criminal name Floyd Thursby. Archer Sam’s partner is murdered and also Mr. Thursby. Sam worries that the police will find out that he's been sleeping with Archer’s wife, and think that Spade killed Archer to get him out of the way. Then after Mr. Spade is bringing in and questioning Ruth wonderly about the two murders. Then he soon find out that she's been lying to him all along. She had no sister, and her real name is Brigid O'Shaughnessy, and Thursby was her former partner. Sam Spade is a handsome private detective. Who's the protagonist in the story. Brigid O’Shaughnessy is a young woman who introduces herself as  “ Ruth Wonderly.“ Casper Gutman ( Mr. G) hires Joel Cairo and Wilmer Cook to find the statue for him. The Maltese falcon is a priceless statue. Joel “Joe” Cairo is the employer who works for Mr. G. He, Floyd Thursby, and Brigid O’Shaughnessy worked together to steal the falcon from the Russian general Kemidov. Brigid O’Shaughnessy is hired by Casper Gutman ( her boss ) to retrieve a lost statue known as the Maltese Falcon. But Mr. Cairo tricked her and left her in need. And so she attracts spade into helping her find the falcon.

I liked the book because I like how the theme is “ violence. “ . Not in the bad way though. Like I said earlier the characters use many violence to find the truth, it makes me excited to read more about the book to find out what they're going to do next. I'd say if you like to read about drama, mystery, and crime fiction, read this book because the author Dashiell Hammett combines all three genres into one.
