This book was written by John Steinbeck. He had also written
plenty of other books such as The Pearl, The Grapes of Wrath, East of Eden and
more. All the books have human lesson problems and achievements. The theme of
the book is faith and loneliness because they’re all alone at one point but
then end up depending on one another to have each other’s back.
The book starts out with two young men, Lennie and George
who live in California during The Great Depression. Lennie and George dreamed of
one day having a farm of their own, leading them to migrate elsewhere in
California in search of land being for sale. While on the move Lennie and
George find a farm where they are hiring workers. They settle down in order for
them to save up for their own land. Lennie and George meet a worker named
Candy, who they discuss their plans with, he offers $350 in order for him to
have his own room. Lennie has mental disorder where he loves fluffy items. One
day Lennie was in the stable, with the animals, Curleys wife shows up admitting
how lonely he is. Curlys wife is aware of Lenny’s habit , letting him stroke
her hair. This got Lennie into a lot of trouble which causes George to take
matters into his own hands , doing what he believes is best for his friend.
I did like this book because the fact that two strangers can
turn into best friends and have the best bond and mindset to get something.
They put their mind into having their own farm and begin that business, it’s
like what I want to do, is to begin a business of landscaping to have workers
that can’t work because of not having social or identification. This book was
written for the audience and readers out there that don’t believe in achieving
their dreams and how you can actually accomplish them with having your mind on
it. I feel like the reader will like it the fact that people that don’t know
each other can have the perfect bond. I recommend on reading this book if you
want to see what’s it's like to achieve a dream that you think you won’t ever
get to. This book will help you change on how you see people and how you see
things.
