The Outsiders is a book that was written by S.E. Hinton, it
is considered a young adult fiction. She has written “That was then, This is now”, “Rumble Fish”, “Tex”, “The Puppy Sister” and many more. The time period
seems to be taking place in the late 80’s into the mid 90’s. It takes place in
a town that is split between two “gangs” the Greasers and the Socs. Also known
as the East side and the West side.
In the book the main characters are Ponyboy Curtis, Darry,
Dally, Steve and Sodapop. A feud starts when a Socs member threatens to kill
Ponyboy. The threat is taken seriously and the Greasers take action to defend
Ponyboy. The group of Greasers are like brothers, practically family. They
always stick together and fight for each other.
I liked this book because it is interesting. It shows what
can happen between gangs, how they feel and what it was like in the time
period. Also it shows you how people can handle sticking together when they
don’t have anyone else. I think this is a good book and I would recommend
reading this and other books written by S.E. Hinton.

ReplyDeletethe main characters are pony boy, dally, darry, johnny, and soda pop. in the beginning one of the socs threatens to kill pony boy and a huge feud starts between the two groups. the greasers are one big family that always stick together and help each other out in their that time of need.
i though that this was a good book for young adults and recommend it to others and i think that they would like it to. also it shows you how one group of people stick with each other like a band of brothers and how it could be in the streets back then and it is almost the same now. this is the only book of S.E. Hinton's books that i have read so i cant really recommend her books but i do recommend this book to others to read.
I've read this book and this description/book review explained it very well in my opinion. I also think that this is a really good book to recommend to young adults that enjoy topics that relate to things that happen in "The Outsiders". This book really showed me how strong a family can be without being blood related. Based off this book review and the book itself, I highly recommend this book.
ReplyDeleteI have read this book and I think that I would be interested on reading it again. This book, like you said, does a good job of what it's like to be in a gang and what gangs were like a while ago. This book is intriguing because there's more to it then just gangs. It shows how a friends can act like a family and how the family would stand up to anything together. I have watched the movie too and it was like the book only it did leave out some parts. This book reminds me of "Freak the Mighty." Its about 2 boys who are completely different and it shows how they can come together and create a great friendship. From this book review, I highly recommend the book.
