Rules of Attraction

The book. I read is called Rules of Attraction by Simone Elkeles It's the second book in the Perfect Chemistry series, there are ony 3 books In the series. This book is more of  an action and romance book. There are two main charactera named Carlose Fuentes and Kiara Westford and  in the book it tells about there life and what they go through.

This  book  is  about  a  boy named Carlos  Fuentes  who  is the second child out of the Fuentes brothers. He moves to Boulder, Colorado from Mexico because of some of the things that happen in Mexico. He has to go to a school named Flatiron High School, where he meets Kiara Westford who becomes his peer guide. After being set up and gets In trouble, Carlos moves to his older brothers professors house, and wher Kiara also lives. Carlos and Kiara are the opposite and they don't like each other. But along the way things happen and feelings start to change for both of them.

In my opinion this is an awesome book. I think that others Would like it as well as I did. I recomend it to others because it's a book that captures you and gets you more into the story. There are a lot of twists and turns and once you start reading it you don't want to Put it dow  because  its that good and you want to find out what happens next. There's a lot of action in the book you keep wondering what will happen. Me personaly I liked it and I didn't want to Put it down, so I think others Would like and enjoy it as much as I did.

Tears of a Tiger

The book that I read was named Tears of a tiger by Sharon Draper. This book was on a troubled teen going through rough times over a horrible, horrible tragic accident that he can’t get over. Andy is the character’s name and he feels as if his friend’s death is his entire fault, and his father doesn’t seem to make it any better on him. Other books you might want to read by Sharon Draper are November Blues which is a great book on a young teen who becomes a mother surprisingly out of nowhere. Forged by Fire is about a young man that has a father that constantly beats on him over petty little things.

The big fact of the story that I think you should know is there was a huge car accident with four young men in the car, the names of the young men in the car are Rob, Andy, Gerald, and BJ. But this book Tears of a Tiger is just telling how Andy is coping with the situation, if want to hear on how the others are doing there is one book named Forged by the Fire it tells how Gerald is taking all of this and also other troubled things he is going through.

I recommend this book to young men who drink or young teens who drink while driving and think that it’s ok and nothing will ever happen. This is an issue for everyday teens. This isn’t for everyone to me mostly for teens and young adults. This book is a great book for those who lost a friend to drinking and blame there selves, for those who deal with a trauma of losing a friend or those who just like reading realistic fiction from time to time. It’s a great book for those who are understanding.

Night

Elie Wiesel is a man of the age of 85 and is Jewish. This book explains his life when he was going through concentration camps only at the age of 15. Elie Wiesel was transported to Auschwitz-Birkenau-Glewice in 1944. He also spent time in the Buna which was an industrial production camp where thousands died. Later he spent time in Buchenwald. He has written a Trilogy of this book and it also fiction and a biography. This book is about the life of 15 year old Jewish boy in the holocaust that goes through the struggle of being beaten and starved and he is holding on for dear life throughout this book. He also has to watch some horrific things like, others being killed, beaten, and baby’s getting thrown in the crematorium, also when they had roll call every night (roll call would go on for hours)if someone fell they would be beaten of hung in front of everyone in the roll call.

This book is about a 15 year old boy that lives in Sighet, Transylvania with his two parents and his sibling, and the invasion of their location started out slow but then when they came to get the family’s to take them to the concentration camps it felt as if they blinked and they were no longer wanted anywhere anymore. They were pushed into trains with hundreds of other Jewish people. While on the train there was no room to sit anywhere, and standing for so long with no food or water made some people go crazy. During their long trip on the trains somebody kept yelling “FIRE” and no one ever saw them, until they arrived at the camp of Auschwitz. Auschwitz was just the first of their “adventures”. When they arrived in the camp the made groups of men and women/children and Elie was put with his dad and his sister went with his mother, after the guards lead him to his barrack that would be the last time he ever saw his sister and his mother. He went with his father throughout his journey in the holocaust. At one point in the book the guard had left his barrack because he wanted to do something else so the adults in the concentration camp told the little ones to go look for food/scrapes in the kitchen while the adults cover for them. Elie did what he was told but he had found the guard of his barrack with some lady in the kitchen doing something he was not supposed to be doing. Elie was 15 and couldn’t help but giggle and the guard beat him, when roll call came the guards whipped him 25 times on his back while his hands were tied to a poll. After this had happened him and his father were sent to another camp and were forced to march and the people that couldn’t keep up were either shot or trampled over. They had to march in the winter time so it was very difficult because it was cold and they were given so they had no energy. After marching for days they had come to the concentration camp of Gleiwitz. When they arrived not to long after Elie’s father had died and was replaced out of his bonk with some another ill Jewish man. He remained at Buchenwald (smaller camp inside Gleiwitz) until April 11 all he could remember was his dad’s eyes as he gazed at him.

I would recommend this book to people who like historical and sorrow books. This book is very interesting to read, because it is his journey throughout his holocaust experience.

Of Mice and Men

A renowned writer John Steinbeck is famous for writing books such as the Pearl (which I have read twice), Death of a salesman, and the Grapes of wrath.  John Steinbeck was award the Nobel Prize in literature in 1962 and won the Pulitzer Prize in 1940 for the Grapes of Wrath. He was born in 1902 in Salinas California and died in late 1968 in New York City. He wrote mostly social novels dealing with economic problems. One of those novels is Of mice and men, a 105 page social novel book based on two men who live in poverty.

Of mice and men is a story about two men who travel around in search of work and opportunity. The two men are almost complete opposites. George is a small and thin man who is smart, cautious, and the leader of the two. Lennie is tall and big in size he is not very bright and depends on George to lead and survive. They share a dream to one day have land of their own. Before they can achieve their dream they first have to work for it and save their earnings. They end up working on farm to build up their savings so they can achieve that goal. As the story unfolds George realizes he and Lennie aren’t the only ones who want a place of their own and so they partner with some of the other farm hands and share their goal. As time goes by though, they face several challenges they never would have expected and dream seems farther away.

Of mice and men is a very good book although it is a bit difficult to read because of the way it’s written. It’s also a short book and a little predictable at times. The story leaves you wondering alot if they are going to come out alive at the end (as in if they’re going to be the same towards the end). I would recommend the book if you are a fan of social novels and maybe a reader of John Steinbeck’s literature. I personally really liked the book though so I would read it even if I’ve never read any social novels or works by John Steinbeck.

The Outsiders

Introduction: The Outsiders By: S.E. Hinton. S.E. Hinton has also written the book called Rumble Fish. The Outsiders talks about a group of friends that are in a gang called the greasers and the other book Rumble Fish isn’t about a gang. The overview of the story The Outsiders is that the author wants to give you the idea not to be in a gang because a lot of bad things happen mainly death. The author wants the readers to do good things in the world because once you do a good thing other good things come back to you for example you help a kid from getting bullied you can possibly get a job.

Summary: There is a gang called Greasers and another gang called the Socs. They hate each other and every time they see each other they fight. One day they meet up again and have a big rivalry against each other and the greasers have always lost a fight against the Socs. Well the Greasers have had enough of getting beat up all the time. Now it was their turn to show the Socs which gang was better! Who really won the fight in the end? Did anybody die during the fight? One sunny warm afternoon Ponyboy was taking a walk to the movies. Usually he goes to the movies with his friends in the car but Ponyboy thought nothing bad would happen to him if he just walked by himself. Suddenly Ponyboy here’s the sound of a car coming slowly at him. He walked a little faster hoping the car would go away but no the car kept following him. Then Ponyboy just stopped walking to see if the car would leave and go somewhere else then all of these Socs would come out of the car Ponyboy started to run but he wasn’t fast enough the Socs had caught him and started beating Ponyboy up. Ponyboy screamed for his friends to come and help him. About a minute later his friends came and grabbed the Socs off of Ponyboy and all the Socs drove off. Everyone asked if Ponyboy was okay he said “yeah I’m fine don’t worry about me”.

I rate this book five stars. You need to read this book because if you don’t you are missing out on what of the greatest books that were ever written! Read this book now trust me it’s worth it!

Introduction: Until We Meet Again by: Anne Schraff. She has written other Bluford series called Lost and Found, and Someone to Love Me. Until We Meet Again compares to the other books that she has wrote is a love story and tells about Darcy’s love live and also her life back home. The author is trying to tell everybody to not judge people by how they look on the outside but get a chance to know them first and realize what goes on in the everyday lives outside of school.

Milkweed

Jerry Spinelli has written many books such as Stargirl, Wringer, and Crash. He won the Newberry award for the book, Maniac Magee and is a renowned writer. He also wrote and published his first poem in high school at the age of sixteen. Then, studying in college, he pursued his dream of becoming a writer. Later on, he not only became a famous American writer but a husband and then a father of six children. In 2003, his book Milkweed was published. This 206 page historical fiction story is all about survival.

It is 1939 in Warsaw, Poland, a boy with no identity and no origins is found stealing for what was more than likely not the first time in his life. Upon running from the very person he stole he encounters someone. The boy he meets is older than him (though he never specifies how much older). The boy introduces himself as Uri and takes him in. Not long after that Uri teaches him how to survive in the streets of Warsaw by using theft and trickery. Uri also gives the boy an identity, Misha Pilsudski an orphaned gypsy living on the streets of Warsaw. In this book he experiences the hardships of living under the control of the Nazis after their takeover of Poland at the beginning of WW2. As he goes about his daily routine he encounters a 7 year old girl named Janina. Over time he and Janina develop a brother and sister bond. When the Jackboots (German soldiers) move them and all the other Jews and none Christians into the Ghetto their lives become much worse than they imagined possible.

I absolutely loved the book! It was very interesting and once I started to read more I couldn’t put the book down. It was full of surprises and was relatively easy read. The story of a boy who did his best to survive really made me want to read more and the things he does and see are completely unexpected. It a great ending (but I’m not going to spoil it your just going to have to read it yourself). I would really recommend it especially to those who read historical fiction or books on WW2 and the Holocaust.
